The brewing group, Lion Nathan, has been disappointed with its New Zealand (NZ) operation. Its Lion Breweries division in NZ has been underperforming for some time. The head of the NZ division, Julian Davidson, has resigned, but this is said to be unconnected with the lacklustre performance of the group. The NZ division was a poor performer for Lion Nathan during 2004. Its earning fell by 5.5% in that period. Lion Nathan shares have fallen by 13% so far in 2005, on the back of poor beer sales for the whole group. On 7 March 2005, shares in Lion Nathan dipped by $A0.07 to close at $A7.47.
