FISH in the River Mersey are undergoing sex-changes linked to hormones pouring into waterways, a report has revealed.
The report into Britain's coast and waterways reveals worrying biological changes in marine life in the Mersey and the Irish Sea.
Leading scientists at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) investigated human affects on marine life in the Irish Sea, but were surprised to find that human activity was beginning to affect the gender of the male fish of certain species swimming in the River Mersey.
