A national mental health advocacy group and rock-and-rollers banded together to urge Congress to fund a federal program that provides money to college campuses to establish mental health and suicide prevention programs.
The groups want Congress to this year provide $27 million in funding for the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act.
"While Congress provided first-year funding for the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act last year to support state suicide prevention programs, they must now build on that investment in children's mental health and fully fund this important law," said Michael Faenza, president of the National Mental Health Association (NMHA).
