It is always a pleasure to read about Dr. Robert T. London's approach to psychiatry, which combines not only medication and psychotherapy, but also philosophy and a broad array of psychotherapeutic techniques ("Strategies for Treating PTSD," The Psychiatrist's Toolbox, December 2004, p. 20).
I have been treating posttraumatic stress disorder, both acute and long-standing from childhood traumas, for 15-20 years. I have been trained in and use hypnosis, mindfulness meditation approaches, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
