Loose wires caused crackling sounds to come from the council chambers' speaker while Auburn councilors discussed hiring a company to replace the outdated sound system.
"There should be some discussion. I hear some scratching in here," said Councilor Robert Hunter at Thursday's council meeting.
Councilors voted Thursday to hire DCI Sound, of Marcellus, to supply a new multichannel mixer/digital processor, 10 new wired microphones and two wireless microphones, and new microphone receptacles. The city agreed to pay the company $13,350.
