Nearly half of all mobile-phone text messages in the United States are spam, according to mobile data company Wireless Services Corp.
WSC, which provides mobile e-mail and anti-spam services as well as other mobile-messaging applications, said it blocked 1.2 billion mobile spam messages in December alone. And the amount of unwanted messages is increasing as spammers become more adept at exploiting wireless networks and foiling anti-spam technologies.
