FROM 8 A.M.-6 P.M., CONWAY'S center is a vibrant area for about 250 commercial and retail businesses. But come nightfall, as Conway residents retreat mostly west to their sprawling suburbia, downtown sleeps.
Proponents of downtown redevelopment hope $1 million in streetscape improvements, millions more in residential and retail developments, and a tempered flow of alcohol can wake it up.
The Conway Downtown Partnership formed in 2001 with contributions from 40 Conway businesses and civic organizations and the good fortune of an already bustling downtown--except at night.
