Given Cincinnati's steep German heritage, it wouldn't be unusual to go into a bakery or restaurant in the west side and hear people speaking German.
That language, though, is only one of several foreign languages that are spoken throughout the region, a study by a Washington, D.C.-based organization found.
The study found 73 languages are spoken in the Cincinnati metro area, with English, Spanish and German as the top three.
There are about 10,000 German-language speakers in the area, which stretches north to Middletown, south to Northern Kentucky and west to southeastern Indiana.
