Aerial-work platform manufacturers are still talking about 1989. It was a banner year for sales; U.S. producers sold an estimated 21,000 units, split roughly 80/20 between domestic and foreign deliveries. While that market spike probably won't be repeated in the near term, it does illustrate the relative size of the aerial-work industry, and the growing popularity of these machines.
