The president of one the largest stamp retailers in the world recently spent $1million for 12,000 stamps. Talk about splurging.
Don Sundman, of Skaneateles, made the purchases at a stamp auction to benefit the Smithsonian Institution's National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C. Sundham's operation, Mystic Stamp Co., is located in the Oneida County village of Camden, where the firm sells anywhere from 40 million to 100 million stamps annually.
Sundman, 50, said the stories behind the stamps are part of what makes collecting fun.
