OTTAWA (CCN) -- While visiting the Holy Land, the President and the General Secretary of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) met with the newly elected president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. The meeting happened within days after Abbas' Jan. 9 election win.
While touring Bethlehem Jan. 11, CCCB President Archbishop Brendan O'Brien told the Catholic News Service (CNS) that he sensed that Palestinians seemed to have more hope.
