THE VIRGINIAN-PILOT
NORFOLK - The last few months, Vonnie Whitworth has entered Studio No. 3 with something akin to reverence.
Each weekday, as she opens the door to her d'Art Center space where she's painted for nearly 17 years, Whitworth takes a moment to drink in the scene. She stares at the floor, made of large chunks of marble pleasingly arranged and set in concrete. She looks at the French doors set in the huge, antique Palladian window. She gazes at the garden patio beyond and breathes in all the warming sunlight that can make her room seem almost outdoors.
