SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Siemens Mobile Acceleration (SMAC), the leading backer and investor for early-stage wireless companies, today announced it has extended its business scope by broadening its investment focus from wireless technologies to cover the entire communications sector. Additionally, it has adopted a new name, Siemens Acceleration in Communications, to better reflect its new mandate.
Siemens Acceleration plans to invest USD $100 million over the next five years in innovative start-ups in the communications field. It is actively seeking opportunities in North America, Europe, Israel and Asia.
