As Turkey anticipates joining the European Union, the country's culture minister, Erkan Mumcu, said he hoped the London exhibition, Turks: A Journey of a thousand years 600-1600, would help showcase his homeland's diverse culture, uniquely illustrating not what Europe would bring to Turkey but rather what the proposed union might bring to the countries of the EU.
THE EXHIBITION breathes life into a thousand years of culture: Decades and centuries in which the Turks absorbed Persian and Arab cultures along with Chinese influences.
Much of the art however is Islamic which, interestingly, makes Turks the first exhibition of mainly Islamic art to be run at ...
