Rabbi Charles Sherman says he inherited from his grandmother the habit of reading the newspaper with a mental highlighter.
"I engage in, "Guess who's Jewish?"' he said. "When they announce the Nobel laureates, I look to see who's Jewish."
He does the same thing at Oscar season and watches developments in the entertainment industry, sports and literary world for contributions from Jewish people.
"We don't really feel fully at home living in America," Sherman said. "It reflects that ambiguity and highlights our successes."
