Pierre Boulez turns 80 next month, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is going all out to honor the legendary French composer- conductor, who is also beginning his second decade as the CSO's principal guest conductor.
The Boulez 80th birthday celebration will include concerts at Symphony Center and on the orchestra's March 24-April 6 European tour, in which he will share the podium with music director Daniel Barenboim. Tour stops will include Berlin and Essen in Germany, along with Vienna, Budapest and the English cities of London, Birmingham and Manchester.
