A ground-breaking programme designed to combat bad behaviour has been introduced into Penygarn Junior School in Pontypool, thanks to a bursary administered by the General Teaching Council for Wales.
Martin Jones, deputy head at Penygarn and in charge of pupil behaviour, set up an 'Assertive discipline programme' at the school as a result of the coaching he received with GTCW funding, and the time this allowed him to step out of the classroom to address behavioural issues.
