In front of a jury, a video can bring a crime scene to life in ways that other evidence cannot, says Mike Mannion, manager of the visual evidence units in the Manhattan DA's office.
In fact, thanks to the popularity of shows like CSI and Forensic Files, today's juries not only assume video evidence will be used, they're more demanding when it comes to quality, says Jan Garvin, training vice president for the Law Enforcement & Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA), a non-profit video training organization headquartered in Great Falls, Virginia.
