ACAPULCO, Mexico _ Most Americans gave up on once-famed Acapulco Bay a long time ago.

They ceded it to the Mexico City millions, who brought their cars, their aggressive city manners and ice chests full of plastic bags and cans that sometimes end up floating in the bay. Acapulco has become a big city on the beach.

But now there is a new reason for the Americans _ and anyone else looking for a stunning combination of luxury and ecology _ to come back.

It's the "new" Acapulco, conveniently located about 10 miles southeast of Acapulco Bay. Also conveniently, it's bordered by the international airport.
