EATING fish could help beat stress, scientists said today.

A major new study has found that the omega-3 fatty acids contained in oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and herring can lead to a "significant reduction" in stress levels.

Researchers at the University of Queensland who carried out the study said it could lead to new treatments.

Joanne Bradbury, who led the research, said: "Perceived stress in people, along with aggression and hostility, were significantly reduced after six weeks of taking fish oil supplements."
