Boeing [BA] officials said their ScanEagle unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) currently deployed in Iraq has performed well in the harsh environment and plans are underway to outfit it with a dual bay payload to allow the aircraft to carry additional cameras, according to a company official said.
Within the next year Boeing will introduce the next Block upgrade for ScanEagle. It will include increasing the flying time to 30 hours, said Dave Martin, program manager for ScanEagle. The current model can fly for up to 20 hours.
"That endurance is unmatched," Martin said in an interview with Defense Daily on Tuesday.
