Hannibal won't turn 200 years old until February 2006, but efforts are well under way to make sure there's enough money to showcase the town properly during its bicentennial celebration.
Chicken barbecues and the sale of calendars, bricks and flower bulbs are among the fund-raisers being planned by the Hannibal Bicentennial Committee. One of the more unusual fund-raisers, and one that could bring in the most revenue, is happening right now.
Rather than raffling a handmade quilt, a fund-raising staple of bicentennials, the town is doing something different.
