CONTRASTING A CHALLENGING and sometimes uncertain piano market, Steinway & Sons announced to its dealers gathered at the company's 20th annual dealer meeting that 2004 will go down in the record books as one of the most successful in the company's 152-year history. During the day-long event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, company executives announced that Steinway & Sons grand sales jumped 12 percent, vertical piano sales increased seven percent, Boston grand piano sales advanced nine percent and that ten colleges had joined a growing roster of schools that exclusively use Steinway designed pianos in their music departments.
