Josh, Julie, and Karen stood in the cookware section of Wilson's department store. Pots of all sizes filled the shelves.
"How do we pick one?" asked Karen.
"I like that one," said Julie, pointing to a shiny red pot.
"It's pretty," said Karen. "Mom will be impressed."
"I don't think so," said Josh. "That pot has a steel handle."
"So?" asked Julie.
"Steel is a conductor, or a substance that allows heat to pass through easily," replied Josh. "If Mom touches that handle while she's cooking, she may get burned."
