I was hanging out with my friend Carl a few weeks ago. He was on the phone with a new female friend of his. After he hung up I asked, "Is that your new best--?" Before I could finish my sentence, he replied, "Heather, you'll always be my number 1 fag hag." I told him that I couldn't possibly be a fag hag, since I'm a big ol' lesbian.
Which brings me to this question: What does it mean to be a fag hag? Some people have told me that a fag hag is simply a straight woman who likes to hang out with gay men--for example, Debra Messing's character on Will & Grace. There's nothing wrong with that. Right?
