Metso Minerals, Waukesha, Wis., announced it plans to close its Keokuk, Iowa, plant during the first half of 2005. The closing will affect about 100 employees, according to a prepared statement issued by the company. The Keokuk plant manufactures marine bearings and fenders and is involved with crushing and screening.
Metso Minerals cited two reasons for the decision to close the plant, which has been in operation since the early 1970s. First, the Metso fender business is considered to be a non-core product for Metso as the synergies with other Metso products on the market is limited. Therefore, Metso Minerals is considering ...
