Article: Mud racin': winning gets downright dirty.(special report)

It's a crazy activity born out of truck competitions. But the origins of mud boggin' go back much further to a much more primitive urge: to get muddy! In the deep South, serious mudders climb aboard radical 4X4 quads and go in search of the sloppiest, nastiest gumbo they can find.

In recent years, this hog-like activity has grown into organized competitions with prize money. High Lifter's Mud Nationals is one of the bigger annual gatherings and the 2004 event held in east Texas drew a record number of 3,511 quads from all over the USA and even Canada. Yep, it's that big of a sport!
