IT USED to be the expensive stuff you only sipped on celebratory occasions - a toast at a wedding or the first tipple of a teenager on their 18th birthday But these days Champagne is fast becoming the drink of choice for everything from romantic dinners to girlie nights out. And here in Britain particularly we just cannot get enough of the fizzy stuff.
According to the latest official figures more and more Brits are popping corks regularly leading the drink's governing body The Comite Interprofessionel du Vin de Champagne to pronounce the UK as the No 1 export market worldwide, for the ninth year running.
