Mar. 24--The hopes of more than two dozen Inland Northwest patients were crushed last month when a drug hailed as a major breakthrough in treating multiple sclerosis was yanked off the market.
Tysabri's manufacturers recalled it after one patient taking it died and another contracted the same disease that killed the first. About 5,000 people nationwide had received Tysabri since its approval, the drug companies told the Associated Press in February.
While there's hope that Tysabri's risks will soon be understood, local patients and doctors said the news was heartbreaking.
