ASHLAND - I'd make a pathetic Renaissance Man, not that I'd ever be invited to join the club.
There I was Saturday afternoon, sitting in a 1905 Victorian cottage, trying to understand Shakespeare's "Richard III" by reading Cliffs Notes. (What, you expected me to be doing something as gauche as, say, watching the NCAA basketball tournament?)
I might be a cultural neophyte, but when that curtain went up at 8 o'clock Saturday for this Oregon Shakespeare Festival production, I was going to be ready for my first experience with Live Bard.
This weekend, given to us as a gift, was not to be frittered ...
