Mar. 25--Elk Grove, pushing to create its own park system in the city's south area, got the legal OK on Thursday to move ahead on the project despite a lawsuit by the area's rival parks agency.
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Thomas M. Cecil, in a spare, four-sentence ruling, denied the request from the Elk Grove Community Services District to halt the city's parks project and noted he was not convinced the parks agency would succeed in winning the case if it goes forward.
The parks district operates 74 parks in Elk Grove and has run parks and fire services in the city for 20 years. The agency sued the city in February after the city proceeded ...
