LAKELAND, Fla. _ The subject continues to be Juan Gonzalez vs. no Juan Gonzalez.

Whether Gonzalez becomes part of the Indians' 25-man roster will be determined in "a couple of days," general manager Mark Shapiro said.

There is a strong suspicion that a division of opinion has existed between Shapiro and manager Eric Wedge. Shapiro wants Gonzalez; Wedge would be happier with Grady Sizemore.

However, neither the manager nor the general manager admits that he holds different views on the Gonzalez issue.

"I wouldn't say that," Shapiro said Saturday.
