Mar. 28--The nonprofit thrift store label almost seems like an oxymoron given that the mission of such stores, like other retail outlets, is to turn the largest profit possible.
"The stores are our bread and butter," said Sally Wooden, director of marketing and development for Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley Inc.
Last year, Goodwill Industries netted nearly $1.5 million from sales at 12 retail stores in a region that extends from Stockton in the north to Visalia in the south, according to Wooden.
