AMHERST - Hockey East had the top-ranked team in the country in Boston College, as well as three other representatives participating in the NCAA tournament.
Today, the league has NADA. It flopped.
New Hampshire, Hockey East's last hope of sending a team to the Frozen Four, was taken out by defending national champion Denver, 4-2, in yesterday's Northeast Regional final at the Mullins Center.
UNH joined BC, Boston University and Maine on the scrap heap. The record books show 1992 as the last time Hockey East was shut out of the Frozen Four.
