CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The first vehicles delivered to the Carolinas manufactured to run solely on clean-burning natural gas will set the pace for runners in tomorrow's 1993 Charlotte Observer Marathon. 
Piedmont Natural Gas Company (NYSE: PNY) is donating to the marathon the use of four new GMC Sierra pickup trucks that are among the first production vehicles manufactured by General Motors that operate only on natural gas.  Natural gas vehicles emit virtually no harmful exhaust compared to gasoline or diesel vehicles, so the front-runners will breathe more pollution-free air during the race.
