The mimosa tree is a virulent, hardy, and invasive plant. If the plant-based research of two University of Arkansas engineers bears fruit, extract from the mimosa may invade both the energy and pharmaceutical industries.
Mimosa extract is being studied as a clean, cheap, and renewable source of energy as well as a compound with medicinal properties that may one day have an impact on diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, and arteriosclerosis.
