I was recently caught off guard by a caller who wanted me to go review his band's performance in a nightclub showcase in the middle of the week, around midnight, in the middle of nowhere (over 100 miles away). Before getting the previously mentioned particulars from the eager performer, he asked me to describe the main criteria by which I critique a live musical performance.
