SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- Whittaker Controls Inc. and Meggitt Safety Systems, both units of the Meggitt Aerospace Equipment Group (MAE), have received contracts from General Electric Aircraft Engines and Boeing for products that are installed on the newly introduced Boeing 777-200 LR. According to Boeing, the 777-LR is the world's longest range commercial airplane.
Whittaker Controls, based in North Hollywood, Ca., is supplying GE Transportation, Aircraft Engines, with a sump eductor valve installed on the GE90-115B engine that is the exclusive powerplant for the extended range 777-200. The same GE engine and Whittaker valve also are used on the Boeing 777-300.
