CULPEPER - The fox was in the woods somewhere. He'd been glimpsed from the hill opposite, where a cluster of pickup trucks and SUVs held spectators trying to dodge the rain.
Across Devil's Run, a stream of horses and riders trickled down a hillside full of baffled cows and pooled at the fence, taking the jump one at a time until one horse refused, the gate was opened, and the horses poured through.
