The monks were twisting and turning in the gloomy hall, their red robes billowing in the shafts of light that came through the high rows of narrow windows.
Outside, the mountains rose, green and furry, to the skies; white peaks pierced the far horizon. The younger monks giggled a little as they saw me in the door, as men do when a woman wanders into their all-male world, but their steps carried on entwining great circles round each other. 'They are practising for the Paro festival in March,' said my guide. 'It is one of the biggest festivals in Bhutan.'
I couldn't find a guide book to Bhutan at Heathrow. But then it's ...
