WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Following is a statement by the American Automobile Manufacturers Association on the Jan. 27 decision of the Maine Board of Environmental Protection to adopt California low emission vehicle standards: 
AAMA is very disappointed that the Maine Board of Environmental Protection (BEP) has chosen to adopt the California low emission vehicle standards without adopting California clean fuels.  This ignores last Friday's federal court decision which said that requiring California cars in New York without comparable California fuels violates the Clean Air Act's specific prohibition against states passing unique vehicle requirements.
