THE Pope's body lay in state at the Vatican yesterday as millions all over the world prayed for his soul. After the illness and suffering that plagued his final years, John Paul II was finally at peace.
Shortly before his death,the84-year-old Pope told his closest aides: 'I am happy - you should be too. I want no tears.'
But senior church officials could not contain their grief as they filed past his body in the Clementine Hall of the Vatican's Apostolic Palace.
