The reception in the Cabaret Voltaire could not be more Dada-like. That means confusion. Should I enter at the Spiegelgasse, where windows allow a glimpse of a Dada exhibition, or can 1 simply push the glass front door, following the sounds of the cafe on the first floor?
The Entrance
The latter seems to work impeccably, leading me to a small audiovisual exhibition at the top of the staircase. In the opposite comer, a bust of Voltaire looks down on the cafe-come-exhibition room. Nothing has been done to conceal the basic construction of the building, pipes and wires abundantly interlacing at Voltaire's virtual feet. In the middle of this unusual scene, ...
