Chicago, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Duff & Phelps Credit Rating Co. has reaffirmed the long-term debt ratings of GTE Hawaiian Telephone Co. Inc. (Hawaiian Tel).  Hawaiian Tel's first mortgage bonds are reaffirmed at  A' (Single-A) and its debentures at  A-' (Single-A-Minus).  The  A' (Single-A) rating will also apply to the $125 million of first mortgage bonds that Hawaiian Tel plans to issue shortly.  Proceeds from the offering will be used to reduce outstanding short-term debt. 
Hawaiian Tel's credit rating reflects in part its debt ratio, which remains above expectations as a result of its aggressive capital spending program.  Construction spending will remain high in the ...
