Apr. 4--Ilan Neuwirth's water sports business unfolded with luck as his silent partner.
Just as Neuwirth expanded his business into a full-fledged store in the mid-'90s, a sector once about water-skiing and surfing radiated out to wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and other ingenious combinations of board, body, wind and wave. Neuwirth's two Water-Play.com stores, in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, sell equipment for those sports plus sailboats and kayaks, the relative of the canoe that underwent its own transformation in the last dozen years.
