SEOUL, April 6 Asia Pulse - Living conditions in rural South Korean farming communities are expected to deteriorate over the next five years as unstable crop prices and imported products hit the market, a poll conducted by a government think tank said Wednesday.

The survey of 800 farmers nationwide in November-December of 2004, showed that 67.8 percent of the respondents believe things will get worse in the coming years.

The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI), which carried out the poll, also said that 81.1 percent believe rural living conditions will deteriorate over the next five years relative to urban areas.
