The 28th annual Vidalia Onion Festival to be held April 20-24 in Vidalia, Ga., officially kicks off sweet-onion season down south. This is the season when Vidalia onions are piled up by the net bagsful (50-pound sizes) in front of supermarkets in southeast Georgia, even in front of gas stations. That adds up to a lot of onion-eating.
If Altoids aren't your thing, then freshen your breath after eating raw onions by drinking some milk. Dairy does the trick. Too bad it doesn't work on garlic, but nothing does except time gone by.
