NEW guidelines to tackle electoral fraud were published yesterday amid concerns that postal votes could be open to abuse.
A 14-page guidance booklet was released the day after the conviction of six Labour councillors for a vote-rigging scandal.
It will be sent to police and returning officers this week, Home Secretary Charles Clarke confirmed.
The booklet said any examples of fraud identified by returning officers, as well as allegations of fraud or coercion, should be reported to police.
