Article: Judicial candidates can't comment on pending cases: the canons already prohibit sitting judges from commenting, but now apply to all judicial candidates.

The Florida Supreme Court has amended the judicial canons to prohibit judicial candidates from commenting on pending cases where such comments could affect their future outcomes.
Acting on a recommendation from the Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee in case no. SC03-1904, the court amended Canon 7A(3)(d) to add a provision that states that a judicial candidate shall not: "while a proceeding is pending or impending in any court, make any public comment that might reasonably be expected to affect its outcome or impair its fairness or make any nonpublic comment that might substantially interfere with a fair trial or hearing."
