A TARTAN DAY jaunt to the U.S. for eight MSPs has cost taxpayers more than [pounds sterling]100,000.
The Scottish Executive paid [pounds sterling]70,000 to send three ministers to the Scottish-themed celebrations in New York, while the Scottish parliament spent another [pounds sterling]31,000 sending another five MSPs.
The cost of the trip has more than doubled in the past three years and last night it sparked calls for a rethink amid concerns that the event is growing without bringing noticeable benefits.
